Enjoyed this piece. Anything about Waylon is worth the read but bless his heart . . . you really brought it home about what he went through. We lost him too young.

My dad has pictures from the early days of Waylon after the crash. He occasionally slept on our couch and would play guitar with Dad and go to my grandpa's church. I only met him a few times that I can recall later in life but I was still just a kid. Amazing talent and one hell of a guy.

Dude, you are a great writer. This has some real weight to it and resonated for a while after I finished it. Keep them coming.

Fucking fantastic piece of writing. Over the past few years Waylon has become my favorite musician due to the authenticity of his sound, that booming baritone is truly majestic. Had never heard of this story before and it fills in a lot of questions I’d had about Waylon’s influences. One can only imagine the pain he lived with after Holly’s death and can see why he became so self destructive.

Nice piece!!!

Waylon also had connections with Lee Hazlewood, Duane Eddy, Al Casey which is directly tied to the Wrecking Crew.

Jessi Colter was married to Duane and then later married Waylon.

Best story I've ever read about both Holly and Jennings. You knew all along what was coming but it was still heartbreaking.

Was a hard day for a high school freshman when both Buddy Holly and Richie Valens went down in the snow. Waylon had the better voice, perfect for an outlaw!

A fave. Absolutely love the details on their connection. And how it shaped the music we love today.
