Don Rich was the power behind the throne no doubt & no, Buck was never the same. Ironically the same could be said of Grandpa Jones after he discovered friend David Akeman - aka Stringbean - murdered in 1973.

I always thought Dwight Yoakam tried to replicate the Owens/Rich dynamic with Pete Anderson. Their falling out was a shame, and I have to wonder what ‘might have been’ had that not happened. That was Dwight’s best work, in my opinion.
